Mark Tinney '97 was one of the finest wrestlers to ever grace the mats at Baldwin Wallace University. The elementary education major was an National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American in 1997 and three times qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championship Meet.

Individually, Mark compiled a then school-record 111 victories during his four years with a cumulative mark of 111-31. He was a three-time Ohio Athletic Conference champion at 197 pounds who twice earned the John Summa Most Valuable Wrestler Award (1995-96 and 1996-97). Mark placed in the top four at 20 tournaments in which he participated, including winning seven tourney titles, finishing second eight times and third three times. In high school, Mark was the OHSAA State Runner-up as a senior at 171 pounds.

In the classroom, Mark graduated with a 3.1 grade point average.

Following graduation in 1997, Mark served one season as an assistant coach to head coach Rich Fleming.
