Dr. Estus Newberry '57 graduated from B-W in 1957, and was elected in to the Alumni Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 1984.

Newberry formerly held the Baldwin-Wallace long jump record at 24 feet 2.5 inches. Having participated on the All-American Team in the long jump, Newberry was voted the Outstanding Track Athlete and the Outstanding Ohio AAU Athlete.

Receiving his masters degree from the University of Cincinatti in 1969, Estus continued his studies and attained his doctorate in 1977 from Nova University. Having been a teacher in Cleveland high schools for 13 years, a coach and a professor at Cuyahoga Community College for nine years, and director of C.C.C. Physical Education and Athletic Departments for three years, Newberry was appointed to the position he now holds--Department Chairman of the C.C.C. Physical Department.
