Luke Izer '62 graduated from B-W in 1962 and was inducted into the Alumni Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 1995.

Izer was a native of Bellville and was a four year standout in football and baseball at B-W. Since graduation, Izer has gone on to have a fine coaching career in both sports at the high school level before recently retiring.

In four seasons of both football and baseball, Izer never missed a game of either sport. In football he was a four-year letterman. As a junior and a senior, Izer received All-Ohio honors. As a senior in 1961, he received the Outstanding Lineman award and an invitation to to play in the East-West All-Star game. In baseball, Izer was also a four-year letterman and played catcher, first base, and outfield. He accumulated a .330 career batting average and was selected as the teams most valuable player the following year as a senior. In addition, Izer was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity/ He graduated in 1962 with a bachelor's degree in education.

Following graduation, Izer continued to excel as a baseball and football coach. in 22 seasons as head baseball coach at Sandy Valley High School, Izer won 312 games, numerous league, sectional, and district titles and was inducted into the Ohio Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1984. In football, Izer served as an offensive line coach for 32 years. Izer has umpired for 22 years, including 10 years at the college level.
