W. David Adams '61 was named Baldwin-Wallace College's Outstanding Athlete of the Year in 1961 after serving as team captain in three different sports. In football, he led the team in total rushing yards and points scored. Adams was also an outstanding wrestler and a good sprinter on the track team.

During his time at B-W, Adams received many honors as both an athlete and as a student. In football during the 1960 season, he led the team in rushing with 842 yards. The former record was held by Dr. Lee Tressel, his coach at the time, who rushed for 752 yards in 1947. Adams was also honored as the Most Valuable Jacket Player, the Best Player in the Cleveland District, and was named UPI All-Ohio at halfback. He was a member of the West squad in the Gem Bowl held in Erie, Pennsylvania on Thanksgiving Day.

In wrestling, Adams compiled a winning record during his career.

In track, Adams often often broke the ten-second mark.

Along with his outstanding performances as an athlete, Adams was named President of his senior class. He was also inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa Men's Leadership Honorary and served as its President. During his senior season, Adams was named to Who's Who while serving as treasurer of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.

Following graduation, Adams tried out with the Ottawa football team of the Canadian Football League. In 1962, he started as a sales trainee with the Dow Chemical Company and in the same year married Patricia Snider. Adams became a field salesman in 1963 for Dow, and in 1965, a packaging salesman. In 1971, he was promoted to plant manager of the Serv-A-Portion Division of the Dow Chemical Company.
