Richard "Dick" Miller, a native of Lakeside, Ohio, graduated from Baldwin Wallace University (then Baldwin Wallace College) in 1954 and was inducted into the BW Alumni Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 1974. He was one of the finest football wide receivers and basketball forwards in school history.

On the football field at BW, Dick was named as a first-team All-Cleveland News All-Big Four selectionthe Most Valuable Athlete and as a Cleveland Press Local College All-Star. He also received BW's Most Improved Player award during his career. As a senior, Dick was third in the nation in small college footgball for receiving yards and earned All-Ohio and small college honorable mention All-America honors. Following graduation, Dick was drafted in the 25th Round by the Los Angeles Rams.

On the baeball field, Dick was fleet of foot, an outstanding hitter and an exceptional defensive player. He also served as a team captain.

Also following graduation and a brief career with the Rams, Dick joined the Navy and played football and baseball. As a football quarterback, he led his team to a 9-1 record. He also played baseball for the Navy's Great Lakes team and was later scouted by the Cleveland Indians and Milwaukee Braves.

Following his career in the Navy, Dick became a successful teacher and high school football coach at local Strongsville High School. He compiled a 70-16-3 career mark in nine seasons and won six league championships.

In addition to being a member of the BW Alumni Athletic Association Hall of Fame, Dick is a member of both the Lakeside High School (Danbury, Ohio) and Strongsville H.S. halls of Fame.
