Kim Smith Gallagher is one of the finest female track and field student-athletes ever to compete at Baldwin Wallace University. Not only was Kim an outstanding track and field and cross country competitor, she excelled in the classroom too!

Kim was a six-time NCAA Division III All-American, including earning three All-American certificates as a graduate student/senior in 1993. She earned All-America honors once each in the 200-meter dash (sixth/ 24.96 seconds in 1993) and the 400 dash (fifth/ 57.20 seconds) and twice each as a member of the 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relay teams.

Kim additionally was named as the Sparky Adams Most Valuable Female Track Athlete twice and the Willie Holcomb Most Outstanding Sprinter three times. Her efforts helped BW to win four straight Ohio Athletic Conference indoor and outdoor track titles. Individually, Kim earned All-OAC honors 16 times and was both the All-Ohio and OAC Championship Meet MVP in 1992. She ended her career as a three-time individual and two-time relay record-holder.

Kim transferred to BW after the fall of her freshman year also ran cross country for two seasons and was a member of the OAC Championship team of 1992.

In the classroom, Smith carried a high grade point average, was a Dean’s List student and earned Academic All-OAC honors for three straight years and twice was a CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-District IV selection.
