John Groff '73 graduated from BW in 1973 and was inducted into the Alumni Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 1989.

Groff, a 1973 graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College, was a football and wrestling standout. 

Groff, a 1969 graduate of Fairless High School (Brewster, OH) was an All-Federal League, All-Stark County and All-District player. Groff also ran track and wrestled.

At B-W, Groff was a member of the football and wrestling teams. He wrestled under B-W's legendary coach John Summa. For three consecutive years, 1971, '72, and '73, the Brown and Gold won the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships and in 1972 and '73, Groff was OAC heavyweight champion.

As a member of the Yellow Jacket football team, Groff was named the OAC outstanding Lineman in 1971, and B-W's Most Valueable Lineman. He was named co-recipient of the OAC Mike Gregory Award, and in 1972 played in the Ohio Shrine Bowl game. Groff was named B-W Outstanding Senior Athlete in 1973.

Groff graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree and has taught at Sandy Valley Local (Magnolia, OH) since 1977. Groff is an assistant football coach in charge of the offensive tackles, tight ends and linebackers. He has also been the head wrestling coach since 1977. 

Groff is single and recently has completed his Master of Education at Ashland University.
