David Coad '72 graduated from BW in 1972 and was inducted into the Alumni Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 1984.

Graduating from B-W in 1972, David Coad was another highly honored trackster.  Having garnished such track awards as the 1970 Ohio Conference Outdoor Pole Vault Champion, the Most Valuable Athlete in Outdoor Track, and the 1971 Outstanding Indoor Trackman.  Also, Coad qualified for the national track championships four times in the pole vault and twice in the decathlon.

Coad's accomplishments were also evident on the football field.  Being named the Outstanding Freshman Player, the recipient of the 1971 Frank Ropollo Award, Ray E. Watts Most Valuable Defensive Player Award, and the 1971 Critchfield Award for Most Outstanding Defensive Player in the OAC, Coad was picked as an Honorable Mention All-American Defensive Back by UPI and Kodak during his sophomore year.  Receiving the Steingass Award as the Outstanding Senior Athlete, he capped his incredible college career by being named one of the Outstanding College Athletes of America.
