Thomas G. Phillips '50 graduated from BW in 1950 and was inducted into the Alumni Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 1979.

Phillips transferred to Baldwin-Wallace from The Ohio State University in September 1947. During the years he attended B-W, he lettered in football and became well-known to Baldwin-Wallace and Ohio as "Touchdown Tommy!" He was an all Ohio quarterback and set a new National Collegiate Athletic Association national yard gaining record in 1948 by averaging 234 yards per game passing.

He set a school record for his 330- yards passing and six touchdown passes in one game against Mount Union in 1948 which lasted until 1992.

Tom was chairman of a successful Strongsville annual Community Chest campaign in 1956. Phillips was a construction superintendent with Elmer Hume, Inc. He served as secretary of the Strongsville Kiwanis Club and is a member of the Strongsville Masonic Lodge No. 728.

Tom was chief estimator for the Forest City Dillon Company in Brook Park. He and his wife Doreen lived in Medina and were the parents of three daughters, Carolyn, Beverly and Barbara.
