Former Cleveland Plain Dealer Sports editor Gordon Cobbledick had a field day in October, 1933 as he provided his paper's readers with a play by play account of Baldwin-Wallace thrilling 14-7 victory over Case.

The man of the hour in Cobbledick's accounts was none other than Yellow Jacket fullback Gedeon.

"With less than five minutes of play remaining and with 6,500 fans resigned to a tie game, Gedeon yesterday gathered an intercepted Case pass and ran 91 yards for a touchdown that his team a 14-7 victory over the Ohio Conference champions at Van Horn Field."

Earlier in the contest, with two minutes remaining in the third quarter, Gedeon drove across from the three yard line for a touchdown that tied the score at 7-7.

Football wasn't Gedeon's only sport while attending B-W. Ray was awarded a total of 12 letters, three in football, three in basketball, three in track and three in wrestling. As a pole vaulter, Gedeon held the school record with a jump of just under 12-feet, using a bamboo pole.

He retired from the Santa Monica Police Department in 1970 and presently spends his spare time as a referee from professional wrestling matches. He recently returned from Tokyo, Japan, where he refereed a World Title match. Gedeon also spends a good deal of time playing golf with his wife Martha on various California courses.
