Amanda Opperman McClain ‘03 ‘08 MAEd is one of the finest all-around softball student-athletes to ever wear the Brown & Gold of Baldwin Wallace University.

Opperman McClain was a three-time Division III NFCA (National Fast-Pitch Coaches Association) All-Central Region selection. She helped BW to four straight 20-win seasons and a four-year record of 95-68.  It is the winningest four-year stretch in BW sogfyball history.

The three-year Yellow Jacket team captain and leader was a consistent hitter who compiled a .394 career batting average, including a .427 average as a junior. Opperman McClain’s 23-game hitting streak and 209 career base hits are still BW school-records. 

An outstanding fielder, Opperman McClain had a .988 career fielding average at first base and is regarded as the finest defensive first baseman in school history.

In the classroom, Opperman McClain was an excellent student who carried a 3.8 grade point average, was a Dean's List student and a member of the Alpha Lambda Honor Society. She also earned Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Verizon Academic All-District honors.

Today, Opperman McClain is a second grade teacher in the North Royalton City School District. She is married and the mother of two daughters.
