She was the OAC Female Swimmer of the Year in 1993, earned All-OAC honors 26 times during her four-year career, was an NCAA Division III national qualifier in 1995-96 and placed 12th at the Division III national meet in the 200-yard backstroke. Volgstadt was an eight-time school record-holder, twice was the Yellow Jacket Most Valuable Swimmer and served as a team captain. Her efforts helped the BW women to a runner-up finish at four straight OAC Championship meets.

In the classroom, she carried an outstanding 3.8 grade point average in chemistry, was consistently on the Dean’s List and was a member of the Alpha Lambda and Dayton C. Miller honor societies.

Today, Volgstadt serves as a chemist for Sherwin-Williams.
