An offensive and defensive end in football, he was All-Ohio Athletic Conference during the 1961-62 season, All-Ohio in 1961 and was selected on the 1963 Little All-American Methodist College football team.

Jerry was named co-captain of the B-W basketball team during his senior year, following a tremendous junior season that earned him most valuable player recognition.  His four-year total of 1,048 points places him 35th overall in scoring at Baldwin-Wallace.

Baseball was the Fremont native's outstanding sport, receiving All-Ohio honors in 1962 and 1963, the same year he was designated B-W's most valuable player.  Noted for his "Eastland Road Home Runs" to right field, the B-W first-baseman spent the summers of 1963 and '64 as a professional baseball player in the Cleveland Indians farm system.

A member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, Jerry completed studies on his masters degree in 1968 from Boston University.  He was a teacher and coach at Chelmsford High School in Chelmsford, Mass., his 13-yeah coaching career was highlighted in 1968 when he was named Massachusetts High School Wrestling Coach-of-the-Year after guiding his team to a state championship.

He is married to the former Carol Shute '64, B-W's 1963 May Queen, and they have three children: James, Christopher, and Kimberly Ann.
