Cheryl Altizer '82 was a multi-sport participant, not on the field, but on the sidelines in the vital role of athletic trainer. For four years she was an athletic trainer for softball, for three years she also worked with volleyball and women's basketball and, for one year, she added football. In 1981, she received the Myrta Stover Award, recognizing her excellence in the women's health/physical education program.

Following graduation, Altizer earned her M.S. at Ohio University in 1984. Her career has focused on health and wellness.

After working as an exercise physiologist and industrial rehabilitation coordinator from 1991-2005, she was a licensed workers' compensation claims adjuster for national Interstate Insurance Co. and a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, and a Red Cross volunteer.
