Harvey Hopson began receiving awards for his prowess on the basketball court while still at East High School in Cleveland.  He was named All-City  and, as a senior, All-State .  He  continued to excel at B-W, where his 1,509 points rank eighth on B-W's all-time scoring list. 

After graduation he focused his energies on his law studies and earned a J.D. from John Marshall College of Law in 1974.  He was admitted to practice before the Ohio Bar, The United States Court of Military Appeals, the U.S. Army Court of Military Review and the U.S. Supreme Court.  Following in the footsteps of his father-in-law (an original member of the Tuskegee airmen), he built his career in the military.  He was promoted to Colonel in 1994 and, from that time until 1997, served as circuit military judge for the Keystone Judicial Circuit in the western Pacific region.  He then was named Chief Defense Counsel for the Marine  Corps, responsible for the supervision, training and professional development of Marine Corps defense counsels world-wide. In 1999 he received an Alumni Merit Award from the College.   

Since his retirement from  the military, he  has returned to B-W where he is works with domestic and international partners for the Business Division.
