Jeff C. Welcsh '87 graduated from BW in 1987 and was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013.

Welcsh was an outstanding linebacker on two Yellow Jacket OAC Championship teams (1983 and 1984). He earned four varsity letters, was a three-year starter and a team captain as a senior. Welsch had 119 career tackles and played a key role on the nation’s top-rated defense in 1985. He was twice named first-team All-OAC and Academic All-OAC and earned OAC Player of the Week honors three times. As a senior, Welsch was an Associated Press Division II/ III All-American and a Sporting News preseason and postseason Division III All-American. In addition to football, he was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and served as its president as a junior and senior. He also was a resident assistant.

Following graduation, Welsch served as a freshman linebacker coach for one year.
