Robert H. Heinmiller '38 graduated from BW in 1938 and was inducted into the Alumni Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 1981.

One of Heinmiller's coaches said "He's a kid who started with nothing and just made up his mind to be a good football player.  Now he's the driving force on the squad."  Bob was elected most valuable player by the football team of 1937 and to the Ohio All-Star Football Team in 1938.

His B-W record included a letter in track, three in basketball, two in football and he also served as manager for the baseball team in 1935.  Bob ran with a high knee action which he applied to the hurdles in track.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy Seabees.  He later joined the U.S. Marine Corps and in 1966 was the oldest enlisted man in the U.S. to complete parachute school.  He retired from the Marine Reserves as Sergeant Major in 1973.

Active for 12 years in the Boy Scouts of America, Bob became an Eagle Scout at age 35 and was awarded the Silver Beaver Award in 1958.  He has served his community of Miramar, Florida, as an outstanding civic leader.

He was a primitive art decorator and wood carver.  Some of his works are now part of the B-W Permanent Collection of Art, including a carving in the lounge of Watts Athletic Center.

Bob and his wife Venita '37, had three children, Bob Jr., Kurt, and Larelei '74.
