Howard A. Wright graduated from Baldwin-Wallace in 1960, and was elected to the Alumni Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 1987.

Wright was one of Baldwin-Wallace's basketball standouts. A native of Akron, Wright came to Baldwin-Wallace in the fall of 1956 with impressive credentials.

While at Akron Buchtel H.S., Wright led the city and the district in scoring with 25.8 points per game, and was named All-Akron, All-District, and All-Ohio.

After seeing considerable action as a freshman, Wright burst onto the scene at B-W as a sophomore. He broke Wynn Hawkin's school-record for field goals in a season that year with 215.

Elected as a captain in 1959 and 1960, Wright was a standout and established a new Yellow Jacket career scoring mark of 1,395 points and became B-W's most valuable player in 1960. That season he averaged more than 25 points per game and was named to the NAIA All-Star squad. He subsequently had tryouts with the New York Knicks and the St.Louis Hawks after graduation.

The professional ranks did not pan out, and Wright became a basketball and track coach at Richmond Hts., prior to entering the business world in 1964.

In 1964, he joined the New Castle Products Company, and stayed over there until taking over the Director of Sales Training position at Republic Steel in 1972. He stayed in that capacity until 1979.

Currently, Wright is the Vice President at Baldor Electric Company while residing in Bath, Ohio with his wife Barbra. The Wrights have three children, Scott, Kimberlee, and Tracy.
