Walter N. Schwegler '30 graduated from BW in 1930 and was inducted into the Alumni Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 1974.

A member of the All-Ohio football team in 1929 and the All-Ohio basketball team in 1930, Walter Schwegler was also an outstanding letterman in baseball and track.  He captained the Yellow Jacket football team and basketball squad in his senior year. Walter earned three varsity letters in each sport totaling 12 in his college career.

Walt was an all-around athlete at Shaw High School before attending Baldwin-Wallace.  He excelled in any sport he entered and presented a challenge to opposing teams.  In basketball he outplayed every center he went up against and Walt was equally oustanding in track.  In the Case Meet in 1930, Walter scored 23 points.

In addition to performing in B-W's sports program, Walter was a member of the GRINDSTONE staff, German Club, and served as treasurer and delegate to the national conclave of Theta Kappa Nu Fraternity (now Lambda Chi Alpha).

After leaving Baldwin-Wallace, and earning his master's degree from Western Reserve University, he coached the baseball, football, basketball, and track teams of Shadyside (Ohio) High School.  From there he went on to coach and teach social science at Glenville High School. He then went on to become principal of Euclid Senior High in 1967.

Walter was active in numerous community organizations in Euclid.  He is a past president of the YMCA and the Euclid Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.  A member of several professional organizations, he has served as president and vice president for the Adult Education Section 1956-57 and on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Public School Adult Educators.

Walter was married to the former Julia Larick '29, and had two children, Paul and Jane Juhl.
