Angelo Rodriguez '62 graduated from BW in 1962 and was inducted into the Alumni Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 1994.

Angelo "Ang" Rodriguez, a native of Cleveland, was a standout basketball and baseball player for B-W. Following graduation, Rodriguez stayed in the field of education and developed an outstanding teaching and coaching career in the Cleveland Public School System at Cleveland South High School.

While at B-W, Rodriguez played four years of basketball and baseball earning three varsity letters on the hardwood and four on the diamond.

In baseball, Rodriguez was a captain for the Brown and Gold. He was an All-Ohio Athletic Conference shortstop in 1962 and batted better than .300 for three straight seasons.

In basketball, Rodriguez was a three-year letterman and a two-year starter. For his efforts, both in baseball and basketball, and for his leadership and work in the classroom, Rodriguez was named the Outstanding Senior Male Athlete in 1962.

In addition to athletics, Rodriguez was active on campus as a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and Omicron Delta Kappa education honor society.

After graduation, Rodriguez began teaching at Thomas Jefferson Junior High School in Cleveland and working toward a master's degree at Kent State University. Rodriguez received his master's degree in education from KSU in 1967.

In 1964, Rodriguez began his teaching career at South H.S. As the baseball coach for 22 years, Rodriguez compiled a 271-165 overall record, won eight Senate championships and four city titles, and in 1990 was named the Greater Cleveland Baseball Coaches Association Man of the Year.

In addition to being active as a teacher and coach, Rodriguez belonged to the Boys and Girls Club of Cleveland, the National Association of Social Studies Teachers, the Greater Cleveland Social Studies Association and the Greater Cleveland Baseball Coaches Association.

Rodriguez, who is married to Jane Woessner '63, resides in Independence, and they have two children.
