Dale Herbert '73 graduated from BW in 1973 and was inducted into the Alumni Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 1987.

Herbert was one of the finest football-baseball athletes in Baldwin-Wallace athletic history.

An All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer in both sports, Herbert played defensive back on the gridiron and was the nation's leading hitter on the baseball diamond in 1971 when he hit .527.

A native of Canton, Herbert was a three year letter winner in football. He was an All-OAC DB in 1973 as well as being named as the Yellow Jackets' Most Valuable Defensive Player. He was presented the game ball after his last game against Wooster that year.

In baseball, Herbert was a four-year starter and letter winner. He was the Jackets' Outstanding Freshman in 1970, All-OAC, All-District and led the nation in batting in 1971, All-OAC in 1972 and All-OAC, All-District IV, All-American and team captain in 1973. He additionally was the Jackets' Most Valuable Player twice.

Currently, Herbert is working in the Marlington Local School District as a vocational coordinator and coach. Having been in the Marlington School District since graduation in 1973, Herbert also is a past president of the Stark County Coaches Association in 1984-85.

Dale and his wife, the former Vicki Barrett, reside in Louisville with their three children Daniel, Jonathen and Mathew.
