After spending one year at Marshall University, John Koz '92 transferred to BW to play football. He was a four-year letterman and was named a Division-III All American. During the 1991 season, he was the Ohio Athletic Conference's top quarterback and was the third-ranked passer in the nation in Division III. That same year, he was twice named OAC Offensive Player of the Week, earned a first-team All-OAC selection, and was honored with the Mike Gregory Wards award as the league's most outstanding offensive back. 

John ranked third nationally in 1992 among Division III passers. He was featured twice in Sports Illustrated regarding the showdown between BW and Mount Union and their quarterback, Jim Ballard. John held 14 of BW's 15 passing records including 981 passes, 609 completions, 7,511 total offensive yards, 7,724 passing yards, and 71 career touchdowns.

Additionally, John was a member of Alpha Tau Omega and graduated with a degree in business administration in 1993.
