ANDREA ISAAC ZAK ’08 is the best women’s tennis student-athlete to ever step on the courts at the “Pop” Collins Tennis Facility. She also served as Jack Bethlenfalvy’s assistant coach for three years after graduation.

Andrea was a four-year starter and letter winner and a two-time team captain. She was the first-ever three-time OAC Women’s Player of the Year. Andrea also was both BW’s 2007 Outstanding Senior Female Athlete and the school’s 2007 Clyde Lamb Award winner, symbolic of the school’s most outstanding student-athlete.

A firce competitor on the court, Andrea led the Yellow Jackets to a 65-30 record, including a school-record 25-3 mark as a senior with an OAC title, OAC Tournament title and the school’s first-ever NCAA Division III National Tournament berth.

Andrea s the winningest all-time player in singles (88), doubles (87) and combination (175) wins. She had a combined 175-42 record, including 88-19 in singles and 87-23 in doubles. As a senior, she and teammate Meggie Glassburn ‘08 set a school doubles record with 29 wins and a 29-5 record. She also was a four-time All-OAC, three-time Academic All-OAC and two-time ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-District IV student-athlete.

In the classroom, Andrea carried a 3.4 grade point average and was a Dean’s List student. Zak also was a member of the Kappa Delta Pi education and vice president of the Alpha Lambda honor societies. She was the secretary of the sophomore class, served as the student director of health promotions and grant board and as a Summer Orientation and Weekend of Welcome leader. Andrea also was a member of the Public Relations Club and the Alpha Phi sorority.

Today, Andrea is married to Thomas Zak and is a special education and learning disabilities teacher.
