During his senior season, Karpinski was 6-0 as a pitcher with a sparkling .063 ERA. He set a number of OAC records that still stand and was an All-Ohio Athetic Conference and All-District Selection.

Karpinski was heavily involved in campus activities as well. He served as class president for two years and was student senator, and member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.

Following graduation, Karpinski was signed by the Cleveland Indians baseball organization and played single A ball for Reno in 1973. He recently coached for Oberlin College and is currently a math teacher and a baseball coach at Elyria High School. He has completed his masters work in education administration at Bowling Green State University.

Karpinski and his wife Patricia have two sons, Christopher and David. They reside in LaGrange, Ohio.
