Watts helped to develop Mucklo's skills at West Tech High School before they both came to B-W in the late '20's. Mucklo was not only a football standout, but was also a two-year track letterman.

Upon graduation in 1932, he was named assistant coach and physical education teacher at Berea High. John continued his studies and received his master's from Western Reserve University. He was later appointed head coach and athletic director of Berea High.

After serving with the American Red Cross overseas during World War II, John returned to be head of the Berea Recreation Department. In 1946 he was a member of the B-W football coaching staff.

As a community leader, he had served as a member of the Berea City Council, president of the Berea Education Association, and the founder of the local chapter of the American Field Sevice.

At his retirement, John Mucklo had given 35 years of service as an educator in the Beara School System and had been assistant principle and co-ordinator of Federal Projects.
