JENNY FISH BAKER '71

Jenny was one of the World's premiere speed skaters and earned a Silver Medal in 1968 while as a freshman at Baldwin Wallace College. She was inducted into the BW Alumni Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 2002.

At age 16, Jenny already was a world-class speed skater. Thus her selection to the 1968 U.S. Olympic Team was no surprise. Nor was it a surprise when she earned Olympic Silver in the 500 meters sprint at Grenoble, France.

Jenny began her glide to the Olympics in 1961 at the age of 12 when she won the Ohio indoor championship and the Cleveland Press Silver Skates Midget-Novice title. She repeated in the Juvenile divisions the next year, and added the Ohio outdoor championship to her long and growing list of titles. In 1964, Jenny won Ohio and National indoor and outdoor Junior championships, and then added the U.S. National Open indoor and outdoor titles. She won the Junior Division indoor and outdoor championships again in 1965. In 1966, she became the U.S. National Intermediate Champion indoors and outdoors.
