At Baldwin-Wallace, he continued his athletic prowess by becoming one of the most outstanding wrestlers in Yellow Jacket history.  Aside from being captain of the wrestling and outstanding wrestler in 1954, 1955, and 1956, he won the Northeastern Ohio A.A.U. wrestling title in 1956.  As a senior Don was named captain of the '56 Yellow Jacket football squad, was named to the All-Ohio football teams and was selected B-W's Most Outstanding Senior Athlete.

His achievements in academics were also recognized by his induction into Omicron Delta Kappa Honorary Society in which he served as president.  He was also a member of Kappa Mu Epsilon, national mathematics honorary fraternity.  His Greek fraternity is Lambda Chi Alpha.

After receiving his bachelor of science in mathematics in 1956, Don coached at Canton McKinley for one year.  The following three years he was the wrestling coach and teacher at Rocky River High School.  In 1962 he was named the guidance director at Chagrin Falls High School.  In 1964 he returned to Rocky River as head wrestling coach and assistant football coach.  In 1967 Don joined the faculty at Bay Village High School in addition to serving as line football coach.  He was named head football coach in 1971.

Don earned a master's degree in education from Kent State University in 1961.

He held membership in the Bay Village Kiwanis Club and in the Greater Cleveland Football Coaches Association.

Don and his wife Nancy had four daughters, Wendy, Amy, Laurie, and Christin.
