Baseball Jumps Back to No. 4 in Latest D3baseball.com Top 25 Poll

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.- The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team jumped up two spots in the latest D3baseball.com national Top-25 Poll. They are tabbed at No. 4 in the latest poll.

BW comes into No. 4 after receiving a first-place vote and having 538 total points.

The Yellow Jackets went 2-0 on the week with two wins over Ohio Athletic Conference foe No. 16 Marietta College. The games were highlighted by dominant performances from the pitching staff. In Game 1, sophomore right-handed pitcher Dylan Snyder (Stow/Archbishop Hoban) pitched 10 innings on 130 pitches, allowing just one run on six hits and striking out five batters. He retired the final 10 batters in faced in order. Senior right-handed pitcher Garrett Miller (McMurray, Pa.) closed on the game in the 11th and picked up the win after throwing an inning and striking out a pair in the 2-1 victory in 11 innings. Senior All-OAC outfielder Vincent Capolupo (Kenmore, N.Y./Saint Joseph's Collegiate) walked it off with an RBI single in the 11th.

In Game 2, the offense came alive, and Miller continued where he left off on the mound. Miller threw six innings allowing a run on four hits and striking out five as he picked up his second win on the day. The offense came alive for 12 hits with sophomore infielder Sean Kolenich (Parma/St. Edward) leading the way with a 4-for-5 performance. Senior All-American infielder Luke Vonderhaar (New Breman) and senior All-OAC Alexis Castillo (Sunrise, Fla./The Sagemont School) each knocked in two runs batted in. Freshman right-handed pitcher Tyler Walker (Fairlawn/Copley) closed out the final three innings of the game to pick up his first collegiate save. Over the three innings, he allowed two runs on one hit and struck out a batter as the Yellow Jackets picked up a 7-3 victory.

BW returns to the diamond on Tuesday, April 11 in Alliance for an OAC doubleheader against the University of Mount Union on the Rafeld-Rodgers Field beginning at 1:00 p.m.
