MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team (11-2) went a perfect 4-0 over the past week to jump up two spots in the latest D3baseball.com Top-25 poll. The Yellow Jackets are now ranked at No. 4 in the latest poll.

Sitting at No. 4, BW has now achieved the highest ranking in program history. Earlier this season, the Yellow Jackets tied the previous record with a No. 5 ranking in the first D3baseball.com weekly poll.

BW started off the week with a 7-6 win over Saint John's (Minn.) College on March 6. Sophomore utility Joey Marousek (North Royalton) got the Yellow Jackets going with a two-run single in the second. Later in the seventh, sophomore infielder Sean Kolenich (Parma/St. Edward) knocked in Marousek with single as BW took a 7-2 lead. Freshman left-handed pitcher Carson Collins (South Bend, Ind./Saint Joseph's) came in to shut the door, and picked up his first collegiate save, after the Johnnies scored four runs in the eighth.

After a day off the Yellow Jackets returned to the field on Wednesday, March 8 with a 9-3 victory over Swarthmore (Pa.) College. Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference first baseman Alexis Castillo (Sunrise, Fla./The Sagemont School) led the way going 3-4 with two runs batted in (RBI). After going down 3-0 early in the game, BW rallied in the seventh and eighth scoring seven runs to take a 9-3 advantage into the ninth. Junior infielder Nick Clark (Willowick/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) and Kolenich each came up with a two-run single late to solidify the victory.

On Friday, March 10 the Yellow Jackets took on Babson (Mass.) College in a low scoring affair. BW came away with a 4-3 walk off victory off a senior All-OAC outfielder Vincent Capolupo (Kenmore, N.Y./Saint Joseph's Collegiate) RBI double to left center. Senior All-American first baseman Luke Vonderhaar (New Breman) went 3-3 with a walk and a home run as he knocked in an RBI and scored two runs.

In the last game of the week on Saturday, March 11 the Yellow Jackets went up against Lebanon Valley (Pa.) College as they cruised to a 14-3 victory. The top of the lineup powered the offense with Capolupo going 3-5 in the leadoff spot, he also drove in two RBIs and scored four runs. Kolenich went 4-4 with a walk, as he hit two doubles and added two RBIs and three runs scored. Clark went 2-4 with two doubles adding three RBIs and scoring two runs.

BW returns to the field on Wednesday, March 15 as they travel to Oberlin for a non-conference matchup against Oberlin College on the Dill Field at 4:00 p.m.
