Buckhannon and Collier Earn OAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week Honors

WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Baldwin Wallace University women's track and field senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Brooke Buckhannon (Collins / Western Reserve) and sophomore All-OAC runner Abby Collier (Dublin / Coffman) have been named OAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Thrower of the Week and Runner of the Week, respectively.

Buckhannon earns her fourth weekly honor after winning the hammer throw event and breaking two records at Amy Adams Invitational hosted by Muskingum University. BW placed fourth out of 10 participating teams with 91 points. Buckhannon broke both four-year-old Johnson Family Track record and the Amy Adams meet record in hammer throw as she won with a mark of 172' 11", the previous record being 172' 2". She also placed fifth in discus throw with a mark of 121' 5" and fifth in shot put with 37' 5".

For her career, Buckhannon has a career-best hammer throw of 182' 10" at the 2021 Harrison Dillard Twilight. She has earned 15 All-OAC honors and awarded The Ohio Athletic Conference Phil Gordon Co-Field Athlete of the Year, two-time USTFCCCA All-Great Lakes Region honors in the hammer throw, shot put and weight throw, named the OAC Outstanding Field Event participant for the second straight season, and two-time NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships qualifier.

Outside of throwing, Buckhannon is a third time USTFCCCA All-Academic selection, three-time Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection, Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar, Member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society, Member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, and Member of the Public Relations Society of America.

Collier earns her first weekly honor after winning the 400-meter run in a time of 59.40 seconds and second in the 200-meter run in a time of 27.62 seconds. She also helped her 4x100 relay squad win in a time of 50.27 seconds and 4x400 relay team place fifth in a time of 4:34.53. 

During indoor season, Collier was a member of the OAC distance medley relay champions team, was a runner up with the All-OAC 4x400 relay team, and placed third with her 4x200 relay squad as she tallied three All-OAC honors. 

The Yellow Jackets are back in action when they travel across town to Oberlin College to compete in the Oberlin Spring Invitatioanl on Robert Kahn Track.
