Murphy Earns Indoor All-America Status with Sixth Place Finish at NCAA Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Baldwin Wallace University junior All-American distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) earned indoor All-America status with a sixth-place finish in the 800-meter run at the 2023 NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships, hosted by Birmingham-Southern College at the Birmingham CrossPlex. 

Murphy finished sixth in a time of 2:14.48 to earn her second career All-America honor and first indoor All-America honor.  To qualify for the finals, Murphy placed second in her heat in a time of 2:12.28. The top two finishers in each heat plus the next three fastest times advanced to the finals. The junior entered the championships ranked second in the 800.

This past outdoor season, Murphy earned her first career All-America honor when she competed in the 1500-meter run placing third place with a time of 4:28.79 at the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. This was her third appearance at the national level.
