CLEVELAND - The Baldwin Wallace University women's track and field team opened its 2022-23 indoor season at the 9th Annual Spartan Holiday Classic hosted by Case Western Reserve University in the Veale Center. The meet was unscored.

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included:

• Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference runner Cassie Kolonchuk (Canal Winchester) won the 5000-meter run in a time of 19:53.81
• Junor All-American distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) won the one-mile in a time of 5:13.12 and won the 3000-meter run in a time of 10:27.73
• Junior Kamaria Montgomery (Louisville / Canton GlenOak) placed second in the 500-meter run in a time of 1:29.69
• Freshman Morgan Aloi (Sylvania / Sylvania Northview) won the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:01.74
• Freshman Julia Hurd (Avon Lake) placed second in the 60-meter dash in a time of 8.17 seconds
• Freshman Katie Plecko (Rootstown) finished second in the 1,000-meter run in a time of 3:13.63
• Sophomore Abby Collier (Dublin / Coffman) won the 200-meter dash in a time of 26.58 seconds

 Field event highlights:

• Senior All-OAC Abby Rodriguez (Grandview, Wash. / Prosser) finished second in shot put with a distance of 37' 9¼"
• Sophomore Emily Torres (Berea / Berea-Midpark) placed sixth in the weight throw with a mark of 43' 7¼"
• Sophomore Grace Beil (Boardman) finished 10th in the long jump with a distance of 14' 10½"
• Sophomore Abby Lorincz (Avon) placed sixth in the high jump with a mark of 4' 7" and 14th in triple jump with a distance of 29' 7¼" 

  On the relay side:

• The 4x200 meter relay team Hurd, freshman Olivia Bradley, Aloi and Collier won in a time of 1:48.42
• The 4x400 meter relay team of Collier, Aoli, Plecko and Murphy won in a time of 4:18.23

The Yellow Jackets are back in action Saturday, January 21 when it travels to Westerville for the Otterbein Invitational in the Clements Recreation Center
