Relay Team Earns OAC Honors; Women's Outdoor Track and Field Complete Day One of OAC Championships Tied For Sixth Place

ALLIANCE, Ohio. -  The 4x800 relay team earned All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors as the Baldwin Wallace University women's track and field team tied for sixth after day one of the OAC Championships hosted by University of Mount Union inside Kehres Stadium

BW is currently tied for sixth after day one with 10 points. Sitting in first is Ohio Northern University with 70 points. 

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included: 

  • In the 3000-meter steeplechase, senior Maddie Miller (Medina) placed 10th in a time of 12:29.98
  • Sophomore Jensen Wolfe (Somerset / Sheridan) placed 11th in the 10,000-meter run in a time of 41:08.01

Field events highlighted:

  • In the discus throw, senior All-OAC thrower Brooke Buckhannon (Collins / Western Reserve) placed fifth with a mark of 130' 9"
  • Senior Hannah Pack (Minster) placed 18th in the javlin throw with a mark of 76' 5"

On the relay side:

  • The All-OAC 4x800 relay squad of freshman Megan Hughes (Oregon/ Clay), sophomore Maura Devine (Baden, Pa. / Ambridge Area), freshman Katie Plecko (Rootstown) and junior All-American distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) finished third in a time of 9:48.87

The Yellow Jacket's Prelims:

  • Sophomore All-OAC runner Abby Collier (Dublin / Coffman) was the runner up in 400-meter dash prelims with a time of 58.56 seconds and fifth in the 200-meter dash. She will return tomorrow for both finals

The Yellow Jackets are back in action tomorrow, Friday May 5th for the final day of the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships. Field events start at 11am and running events at 3pm.
