Distance Medley Relay Team Crowned OAC Champions & Two Other Earn All-OAC Honors; Women's Indoor Track and Field Sits in Fourth After Day One of OAC Championships

BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's indoor track and field stands in fourth place after first day of the two-day Ohio Athletic Conference Championships on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse. 

BW is fourth of 10 teams with 37 points.  The University of Mount Union is first with 72 points.

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included:

  • Junior All-American distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) earned her seventh indoor All-OAC honor as she placed second in the 500-meter dash in a time of 1:16.59
    • Murphy also the breaks the previous 500-meter school record time of 1:16.83
  • Freshman Morgan Aloi (Sylvania / Sylvania Northview) finished sixth in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:01.67
  • Sophomore Jensen Wolfe (Somerset / Sheridan) placed 16th in the 5000-meter run in a time of 19:51.73

Field events highlighted:

  • Senior Elizabeth Schultz (North Olmsted) earns her first career All-OAC honor after her third place finish in weight throw with a mark of 51' 0"
  • Sophomore Grace Beil (Boardman) finished 20th in the long jump with a distance of 15' 0"

On the relay side:

  • The OAC distance medley relay champions team of junior All-OAC runner Cassie Kolonchuk (Canal Winchester), sophomore All-OAC Abby Collier (Dublin / Coffman), freshman All-OAC Katie Plecko (Rootstown) and Murphy won in a time of 12:21.61

The Yellow Jackets are back in action tomorrow for the last day of the OAC Championships. Field event action begins at 10 a.m. with track events at 2:30 p.m.
