Women's Outdoor Track and Field Host Sparky Adams Invitational with Runner Up Finish

BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field team were runners up at the hosted 53rd Sparky Adams Invitational inside George Finnie Stadium. 

BW individual events highlights included: 

  • Junior All-American distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) won the 800-meter run in a time of 2:14.90 
  • Sophomore Abby Collier (Dublin / Coffman) was the runner up in the 400-meter run in a time of 57.78 seconds
  • Freshman Katie Plecko (Rootstown) was the runner up in the 1500-meter run in a time of 4:55.98
  • Senior Maddie Miller (Medina) placed fifth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:05.73
  • Freshman Morgan Aloi (Sylvania / Sylvania Northview) finished sixth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 26.68 seconds
  • Sophomore Kenni Voytek (Valley View / Cuyahoga Heights) placed seventh in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.84 seconds and ninth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:13.53
  • Sophomore Ellie Burns (Louisville,Ky. / Assumption) placed 16th in the 5000-meter run in a time of 20:20.80

Field events highlighted:

  • Senior Brooke Buckhannon (Collins / Western Reserve) won the hammer throw with a mark of 176' 9" and won the women's shot put with a distance of 41' 1¾" 
  • Senior Hannah Pack (Minster) placed fifth in the javlin throw with a mark of 80' 6"
  • Sophomore Lilly Johns (Garrestville / James A. Garfield) finished sixth in discus throw with a mark of 117' 2"
  • Voytek placed 11th in the high jump with a height of 4' 7"

On the relay side:

  • The 4x100 team of freshman Julia Hurd (Avon Lake), Aloi, freshman Olivia Bradley (Hilliard / Hilliard Davidson) and Collier placed sixth in a time of 51.74 seconds
  • The 4x400 squad of Collier, Plecko, Murphy and Aloi finished fifth in a time of 4:24.65

The Yellow Jackets are back in action when they travel to Canton on Thursday, April 27th to compete in the Walsh Tune-Up on Larry Staudt Field.
