Murphy Awarded Fourth Career OAC Outdoor Runner of the Week Accolade

WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Baldwin Wallace University junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) has been named the OAC Outdoor Track and Field Runner of the Week for the fourth time in her career.

Murphy earns her fourth weekly honor after competing at the Walsh Tune-up and breaking the 16-year-old stadium record time of 2:18.28 and the 11-year-old Walsh Tune-Up meet record time of 2:18.70 with her own time of 2:17.04 in the 800-meter run. She also went on to win the 1500-meter run in a time of 4:41.89 but also breaking NCAA Division II Walsh University's 36-year-old school record (4:46.70), 16-year-old stadium record (4:43.36) and 11-year-old Walsh Tune-Up meet record (4:47.24). 

This season, Murphy ranks second in the OAC in the 800-meter and 1500-meter run. While also being 11th in the 400-meter run and 18th in the 200-meter run. Nationally, she is ranked 31st in the 800-meter run for her 2:14.71 time at the Bison Outdoor Classic. 

For her outdoor career, Murphy is a two-time naitonal quailifer, with All-American honors in the 1,500-meter run placing third at the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She is a recipient of the Dave Lehman Outstanding Outdoor Distance Athlete of the Year Award.  She is the BW Outdoor Track and Field School Record Holder in the 1,500-meter run and an OAC record-holder in the 800-meter run. 

In the classroom, Murphy is a College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District, USTFCCCA All-Academic selection, Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection, and a Jacket Scholar. 

The Yellow Jackets are back in action Thursday, May 4th when they travel to Mount Union to compete in the two-day OAC Outdoor Championships.
