Buckhannon Breaks Two Records; Women's Outdoor Track and Field Finished Fourth at the Amy Adams Invitational

NEW CONCORD, Ohio - Senior Brooke Buckhannon (Collins / Western Reserve) breaks two records as the Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field team started the outdoor season as the team placed fourth at the Amy Adams Invitational hosted by Muskingum University.

BW placed fourth out of 10 participating teams with 91 points. 

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included:

  • Sophomore Abby Collier (Dublin / Coffman) won the 400-meter run in a time of 59.40 seconds and second in the 200-meter run in a time of 27.62 seconds
  • Sophomore Jaelyn Jaquay (Cherry Valley, N.Y. / Springfield Central) placed third in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:59.80
  • Freshman Katie Plecko (Rootstown) finished fifth in the 1500-meter run in a time of 5:01.79 and 10th in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:35.66
  • Senior Maddie Miller (Medina) placed eigth in the 5000-meter run in a time of 20:02.85 
  • Sophomore All-OAC Kenni Voytek (Valley View / Cuyahoga Heights) placed seventh in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 18.33 seconds and fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:17.33

Field events highlighted:

  • Buckhannon broke both four year old Johnson Family Track record and the Amy Adams meet record in hammer throw as she won with a mark of 172' 11", the previous record being 172' 2". She also placed fifth in discus throw with a mark of 121' 5" and fifth in shot put with a distance of 37' 5"
  • Sophomore Abby Lorincz (Avon) placed 12th in javelin throw with a mark of 54' 5"
  • Voytek finished ninth in high jump with a height of 4' 5.50"

On the relay side:

  • The 4x100 squad of freshman Julia Hurd (Avon Lake), Collier, freshman Olivia Bradley (Hilliard / Hilliard Davidson), and freshman Morgan Aloi (Sylvania / Sylvania Northview) won in a time of 50.27 seconds
  • The 4x400 team of CollierPleckoAloi and sophomore Jensen Wolfe (Somerset / Sheridan) placed fifth in a time of 4:34.53

The Yellow Jackets are back in action when they travel across town to Oberlin College to compete in the Oberlin Spring Invitatioanl on Robert Kahn Track
