Men’s Indoor Track and Field Takes Sixth at OAC Championships

ADA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's indoor track and field team finished sixth after two-days of competition at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Ohio Northern University inside the ONU Sports Center Fieldhouse.

BW was sixth of 10 teams with 38 points.  The University of Mount Union was the champion with 180 points.

The Yellow Jackets were led by junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC thrower Ted Achladis (Avon Lake/Elyria Catholic) took fourth in the shot put with a throw of 50 feet and 5.5 inches.

In addition, senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Zak Dysert (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) was fifth in the shot put with a career-best mark of 50'2.5". Freshman distance runner David Prather (Hardin, Mont.)  placed fourth in the 800-meter run in a career-best time of 2:00.27. Freshman distance runner Joe Juda (Strongsville) finished ninth in the 1-mile in a time of 4:29.86 and 13th in the 1000-meter run in a time of 2:41.30

In relay action, the 800-meter relay squad of senior sprinter Brandon Cole (Vermilion), freshman sprinter Drew Kopchak (Port Clinton), freshman distance runner Nate Matthews (Marietta) and junior sprinter Robby Becker (South Amherst/Firelands) took fourth in a time of 1:34.38.  The 1600-meter relay unit of Cole, Prather, Matthews and Juda placed sixth in a time of 3:33.98

BW is back in action on Saturday, March 2 when it travels to Stevens Point, Wisconsin to compete in the NCAA Last Chance Meet hosted by the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point at 11:30 a.m.
