Dysert Repeats as Champion in Weight Throw, Men's Indoor Track and Field in Fifth After Day One of OAC Championships

ADA, Ohio -- Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Zak Dysert (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) ) won his second straight OAC title in the weight throw to lead the Baldwin Wallace University men's indoor track and field team on the first day of competition at the OAC Championships hosted by Ohio Northern University in the ONU Sports Center Fieldhouse.

BW is fifth of 10 teams with 17 points.  John Carroll University is in first place with 42 points.

Dysert, who claimed his second career All-OAC indoor accolade, won the weight throw with a toss of 61 feet and 11.64 inches , which was more than two feet better than second place.

In addition to Dysert for the Yellow Jackets, senior Academic All-OAC thrower Milton Woods (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young) finished in the wieght throw with a distance of 50'10.92". Junior hurdler Robby Becker (South Amherst/Firelands) took 13th in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.85. Sophomore All-OAC distance runner Josh Hickmott (Clay, N.Y./Liverpool) also placed 13th in the 5000-meter run after crossing the finish line in a time of 15:56.13.

In relay action, the distance medley team of sophomore distance runner Jose Reynoso (Painesville/Thomas W. Harvey), senior Academic All-OAC runner Brandon Cole (Vermilion), freshman distance runner David Prather (Hardin, Mont.), freshman distance runner Joe Juda (Strongsville) and freshman distance runner Nate Matthews (Marietta) placed fourth in a time of 10:48.11.

BW is back in action on Saturday, February 23 for the second and final day of the OAC Championships.  Field events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m with running events to begin at 2 p.m.
