GENEVA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University senior thrower Zak Dysert (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) won a national title and senior sprinter Jordan Leverette (Cleveland/John Adams) earned All-American status at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships, hosted by the University of Mount Union and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission at SPIRE Institute.

Dysert capped off his career as an All-American and national champion as he won the hammer throw event for the eighth time this season. Sitting in fourth place with just one attempt to go in the finals, the senior overtook the lead with a mark of 203 feet, 5.5 inches, which stood all the way to the end. He becomes the fourth Yellow Jacket in the history of men's track and field to capture an individual national title - the first since Kevin Johnson won the 100- and 200-meter dashes in 2014. In the history of the hammer throw, Dysert is the first All-American since Tyler Burdoff was the runner-up in 2016, the third All-American in the history of the event and the first national champion.  

On the track, Leverette climbed the national podium for the first time since the 2016 indoor season when he finished fourth in the 200-meter dash. In the 100-meter dash preliminaries on Thursday, the senior posted the seventh-fastest time of 10.56 seconds. Leverette then improved on both his time and his finish in the finals as he placed sixth in 10.45 seconds for his second career All-American honor. He is the first All-American in the event since Johnson won the 2014 national title.

Dysert and Leverette combined for a total of 13 points with their two All-American finishes as BW finished tied for 21st overall. As a team, the Yellow Jackets ended the outdoor season with a fifth-place finish at the All-Ohio Championships and a sixth-place finish at the 2019 OAC Outdoor Championships.
