NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field teams finished fifth at the Amy Adams Memorial Invitational, hosted by Muskingum University on the Johnson Family Track inside McConagha Stadium.

BW finished fifth of 14 teams with a total of 60 points. Case Western Reserve University won the meet with 100 points.

When the hammer throw and the javelin were contested on Friday, senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference thrower Zak Dysert (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) won both events with marks of 189 feet, 4 inches and 142'11", respectively. Freshman jumper/thrower Matthew Staley (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) placed fifth in the javelin with a throw of 125'10". During Saturday's competition, Dysert was the runner-up in the discus throw when he tossed 154'7". Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC thrower Ted Achladis (Avon Lake/Elyria Catholic) finished fourth in the same event by hitting a distance of 148'11".

On the track, sophomore distance runner Spencer Roberts (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca West) won the 3,000-meter steeplechase after posting a career-best time of 10:01.46. Both senior Academic All-OAC sprinter Brandon Cole (Vermillion) and freshman distance runner Joe Juda (Strongsville) notched seventh-place finishes on the track. Cole hurdled his way to a season-best time of 1:00.39 in the 400-meter hurdles while Juda crossed the finish line in 4:10.42 in the 1,500-meter run. Freshman distance runner Nate Matthews (Marietta) also placed eighth in the 400-meter run in 51.59 seconds.

In relay action, Juda, freshman distance runner David Prather (Hardin, Mont.), Roberts and sophomore distance runner Larry Salerno (Mentor) combined for a fourth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 3:37.29.

BW will next compete on Saturday, March 30, at the April Fools Invitational, hosted by Otterbein University inside Memorial Stadium.
