10 BW Women's Soccer Players Garner Academic All-OAC

BEREA, Ohio -- 10 Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer student-athletes have been named to the 2013 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.  To qualify, each student-athlete had to have a minimum 3.495 grade point average or higher and achieve varsity status on his or her team.  BW had the second most selections of any OAC institution.

The 10 women's soccer student-athletes are Emma Harding (Akron/Revere), Liz Helser (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Canterbury), Heather Keller (Parma), Margo Laseak (Mentor), Kayla Losco (Hopewell Township, Pa./ Hopewell), Heather Low(Amherst/Marion L. Steele), Carly Norman (Harrisburg, Pa,./Central Dauphin), Emily Sanders (Canton/Jackson), Ashley Stevens (Mansfield/Lexington) and Emily Tallmadge (Fairview, Pa.).

Harding is a sophomore midfielder who carries a 3.8 grade average in sport management. This fall, she played in 19 games and took 17 shots, including eight on-goal, and contributed one assist as the Yellow Jackets finished 14-5-1 overall and tied the school single-season record for wins. Harding is a Dean's List student.

Helser is a senior defender who carries a 3.59 grade average in early childhood education. She is one of the best defenders to ever play women's soccer at BW and helped the team to allow just 1.13 goals with 25 shutouts. The three-time All-OAC and All-Ohio selection played in all 20 game, took five shots, including two on-goal and scored one goal. During her career, Helser took 27 shots, including 13 on-goal, scored four goals and added an assist for nine points. She also earned Academic All-Ohio honors as well as Division III All-Great Lakes Region accolades.  Helser is a Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar and a member of numerous academic honoraries.

Keller is a senior forward who carries a 3.52 grade average in health and physical education.  She led the team in scoring this fall with 18 points on a team-leading eight goals and team-high-tying four assists. In addition to being Academic All-OAC, Keller was an All-OAC pick as a freshman in 2010. During her career, she appeared 78 games, took 131 shots, including 73 on-goal, scored 21 goals and added 12 assist for 54 points to tie for eighth all-time in school history.  Keller is a Dean's List student, a member of the Chi Sigma Alpha Honor Society and the Health & Physical Education Club.

Laseak is a senior midfielder who carries a 3.77 grade average in early childhood education. She played in all 20 games, took 31 shots, including 15 on-goal, and had three assists. The two-time Academic All-OAC choice also earned All-OAC honors this fall.  She appeared in 80 career games, took 63 shots, including 30 on-goal and had four assists. The Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar is a member of the Alpha Lambda and Chi Sigma Alpha honor societies.

Losco is a senior sweeper who carries a 3.62 grade point average in pre-physical therapy. The two-time All-OAC and Academic All-OAC player saw action in 19 games this season and contributed three goals and a team-high-tying four assists for 10 points. She took 11 shots, including five on-goal and had one game-winning goal. A year ago, Losco led the OAC in assists with nine and earned Academic All-Ohio honors. In her career, she played in 70 games, took 78 shots, including 29 on-goal, scored 10 goals and added 13 assists for 33 points with two game-winners. Losco was the Most Valuable Player at the Penn State Behrend Tournament in 2012 and was an OAC Player of the Week. She is a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and member of numerous academic honoraries.

Low is senior defender who carries a 3.59 grade average in psychology. This fall, she played in three games. During her career, Low played in 22 games as a key member of the back line. She also is a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and member of the Chi Sigma Alpha Honor Society.

Norman is a junior midfielder who carries a 3.72 grade average in early childhood education. She played in six games this fall and took three shots, including one on-goal. During her career, the two-time Academic All-OAC pick has played in 19 games and taken six shots, including three on-goal.  She also is a Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar.

Sanders is a senior defender who carries a 3.71 grade average in pre-physical therapy. The two-time Academic All-OAC selection played in 16 games this season, took six shots, including four on-goal, and contributed an assist. During her career, Sanders played in 53 games, took 16 shots, including 10 on-goal, scored once and added four assists for six points. She is a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and member of the Chi Sigma Alpha Honor Society.

Stevens is a junior forward who carries a 3.73 grade average in early childhood education. The two-time Academic All-OAC pick played in three games this season and took one shot. She also played in 29 career games, took 16 shots, including nine on-goal, and scored once for two points. Stevens is a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar.

Tallmadge is a sophomore goalkeeper who carries a 3.79 grade average in chemistry. She allowed 1.15 goals-per-game and had four shutouts and 72 saves this season.  A year ago, the 2012 All-OAC selection played in all 19 games, allowed an OAC-leading 0.61 goals-per-game with eight shutouts and 71 saves. Tallmadge enters her junior campaign with a 24-8-5 mark, a 0.88 goals-against-average, 12 shutouts and 143 career saves. She also is a Dean's List student and received the Freshman Chemistry Honors Award.
