Waynesburg, Pa. -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team won its sixth straight match as it defeated host Waynesburg University, 2-0, at John F. Wiley Stadium. The Yellow Jackets have not lost since September 8 of this season.
BW, 9-1 overall, has now won six straight matches and next plays on Saturday, October 5 at home in its 2013 Ohio Athletic Conference opener against Otterbein University at 4:30 p.m. on the Tressel Field inside The George Finnie Stadium. BW is 2-0 at home this season. With its loss, Waynesburg is now 3-5 overall.
BW opened the scoring in the eighth-minute when senior defender Sami Riveron (Maineville/Kings) assisted senior All-OAC forward Heather Keller (Parma) to give BW a 1-0 advantage. Keller has a team-leading seven goals and 17 points. Riveron now has two assists this season.
In the 40th-minute, sophomore forward Cheryl Bell (Piqua) netted the second goal for BW with an assist from sophomore forward Audrie Wolfe (Hilliard/Darby). Bell scored her second goal of the season and it is Wolfe's third assist this season.
In goal for BW, junior Gabrielle Bodo (Alliance/St. Thomas Aquinas) started and played the first half and faced 11 total shots, including four on-goal, allowed zero goals and made four saves.
In the second half, sophomore netminder Emily Tallmadge (Fairview Pa.) finished the game. She faced six shots, giving up zero goals and made two saves to improve to 8-1 overall. The shutout was Tallmadge's third overall (one individual and two combined). She is now allowing just 1.35 goals per match.
BW outshot Waynesburg by a 21-17 count and had more corner kicks, 8-3.
Following its match against Otterbein on Saturday, the Yellow Jackets then travel to New Concord, on Tuesday, Oct. 8 for an OAC match against the Muskingum University Fighting Muskies at 7:00 p.m.
