Women's Soccer Shut Out by Mount Union

BEREA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team was defeated by the University of Mount Union, 1-0, in an Ohio Athletic Conference game on Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium.

After 75 scoreless minutes of action, the Purple Raiders (12-5-1, 5-3 OAC) scored the game's lone goal when sophomore forward Kelsey Malenic followed the initial shot of sophomore forward Shannon Evans and tapped it into the empty net.

In goal for BW (13-5, 4-4 OAC), sophomore Emily Tallmadge (Fairview, Pa.) faced seven shots, allowed one goal and made three saves as her record fell to 11-5 overall.

The Yellow Jackets outshot Mount Union by a 14-7 count but the Purple Raiders had a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.

BW ends the regular season on Saturday, November 2 when it hosts Marietta College on Seniors' and Parents' Day.  The first game of the women's and men's OAC soccer doubleheader kicks off at 1 p.m.  Fans can watch the game via live video at http://www.bwyellowjackets.com/sports/wsoc/2013-14/videos/marietta
The Yellow Jackets now need a win on Saturday combined with a Wilmington loss at John Carroll to secure a spot in next week's OAC Tournament.
