BW Women’s Soccer Defeats Otterbein in OAC Opener

BEREA, Ohio --  The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team defeated Otterbein University, 1-0, in the Ohio Athletic Conference opener for each team on the Tressel Field inside The George Finnie Stadium.  This was the opener of a women's and men's doubleheader.

With its win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 10-1 overall and 1-0 in the OAC. With its loss, the Cardinals drop to 5-4-1 overall and 0-1 in the OAC.

BW opened the scoring in the 77th-minute when sophomore forward Cheryl Bell (Piqua) scored with an assist from sophomore midfielder Emma Harding (Akron/Revere) to give the Yellow Jackets a 1-0 lead. Bell scored her third goal of the season and it is Harding's first assist this season. 

In goal for BW, sophomore Emily Tallmadge (Fairview, Pa.) faced nine shots, including five shots-on-goal, allowed zero goals and made five saves as she improved to 9-1 overall. 

The Yellow Jackets outshot Otterbein by a 11-9 count and also had an 5-2 advantage in saves.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, October 8 when they travel to New Concord, Ohio to play OAC rival Muskingum University at 7:00 p.m.
