BW Women’s Soccer Knocked Out of OAC Tournament on Penalty Kicks

ADA, Ohio -- The sixth-seeded Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team was knocked out of the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament by third-seeded Ohio Northern University Polar Bears on penalty kicks at Kerscher Stadium.

The Yellow Jackets (14-5-1), who ended their season with a school record-tying 14 wins, and Polar Bears (10-8-2) scored the only goals of the game in the first half. Ohio Northern won the game and advances to the OAC Tournament semifinals at second-seed John Carroll on Thursday as it won on penalty kicks by a count of 4-1.

The Polar Bears opened the scoring in the 10th minute when junior forward Kristina Klusek scored on a penalty kick.

BW scored its lone goal when senior defender Sami Riveron (Maineville/Kings) knocked in a loose ball in the box as time expired in the first half.

Ohio Northern got penalty kicks from senior forward Sami Atkinson, senior midfield Lauren Brown, senior midfielder Colleen Kerger and the clincher from senior midfielder Abbie Schauble. The Yellow Jackets got its lone penalty kick from freshman forward Bree Gilliam (Baltimore, Md. /Kenwood).

In goal for BW, sophomore Emily Tallmadge (Fairview, Pa.) faced 14 shots, including seven on goal, allowed one goal and made six saves as she ends the season with a record of 12-5-1.
