BEREA, Ohio ---The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team tied the school record for wins  in a season as it defeated Marietta College, 5-1, in an Ohio Athletic Conference on Seniors' & Parents' Day on Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium.

The Yellow Jackets (14-5, 5-4 OAC) tied both the OAC-champion team of 1992 (14-4-1) and the 1997 team (14-5-2) for most wins in a season.

Following a scoreless first half, BW opened the scoring in the 52nd minute when senior defender Sami Riveron (Maineville/Kings) scored on a header off of a deflection for her second goal on the season.  The goal was assisted by senior forward Kari Trivisonno (Mentor).

The Yellow Jacket lead did not last long as Marietta (2-16, 0-9 OAC) scored in the 57th minute when senior forward Mattie Stowell scored her second goal of the season and was assisted by junior forward Stevie Reilly.

BW responded with four unanswered goals to end the game.

The first came in the 74th minute when senior midfielder Lindsey Mikula (Rocky River) scored on a header off a free kick from senior defender Emily Sanders (Canton/Jackson) for her third goal of the season.

The Yellow Jackets tacked on their third goal of the game in the 79th minute when sophomore forward Cheryl Bell (Piqua) scored her fourth goal of the season on an assist from senior defender Margo Laseak (Mentor).

Junior forward Nicole Boyd (Warren/Howland) scored her second goal of the season on a cross from sophomore forward Audrie Wolfe (Hilliard/Darby) to push the lead to 4-1 just 51 seconds later.

BW closed out the scoring when senior forward Heather Keller (Parma) scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season in the 86th minute.

In goal for the Yellow Jackets, sophomore All-OAC netminder Emily Tallmadge (Fairview, Pa.) faced five shots, allowed one goal and made three saves as her record improved to 12-5 overall.  Senior Kristina Mathur (Mason) played the final 1:17 and did not face a shot.

BW outshot the Pioneers by a 29-5 count and had a 14-2 advantage in corner kicks.

The Yellow Jackets will now have to wait for the outcome of tonight's OAC match between Wilmington and John Carroll to determine if they will make next week's OAC Tournament.  BW needs a Wilmington loss to qualify for the tournament.
