BW Women’s Soccer Team Announces 2013 Team Award Winners

BEREA, Ohio -- Nine Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer student-athletes received awards at the team's season-ending banquet on in the Strosacker Hall.  The Yellow Jacket women finished 14-5-1 overall and tied the single-season school-record for victories.

Senior defender Liz Helser (Fort Wayne, Ind./Canterbury) was named as the team's Co-Most Valuable Player. She played her fourth season of soccer and earned her fourth varsity letter. She played in all 20 matches and scored one goal.  Helser played a key role on a defense that recorded four shutouts and allowed just 1.13 goals-per-game. Individually, she received Academic All-OAC honors.

Senior midfielder Lindsey Mikula (Rocky River) was the recipient of the team's Co-Most Valuable Player Award. She returned from an injury and played her fourth season of soccer and earned her fourth letter. Mikula played in all 20 matches, took 36 shots, had three goals for six points. 

Senior forward Heather Keller (Parma) was named as the Offensive Player of the Year. She played her fourth season of soccer and earned her fourth letter. She was named as the OAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week for her efforts in wins versus Bethany (W.Va.) and Defiance. Keller saw action in 19 matches, took 36 total shots, scored a career-high eight goals, added four assists and had a team-high 20 points. Also a solid student, she was named Academic All-OAC.

Sophomore defender Kadi Tucker (Mason) was named as the Defensive Player of the Year. She played her second season of soccer and earned her second letter. Tucker played in all 20 matches and had a key role in the four shutouts this fall.

Freshman defender Kelly Gough (Hudson) was named as the Rookie of the Year. She competed in her first season of soccer and earned her first varsity letter. Gough saw action in 19 matches, scored two goals and had three assists for seven points. She saw action as a midfielder then was moved to center back.

Senior midfielder Hanna Cavalier (Chippewa Lake/Cloverleaf) was named as the "Players Player". She played her fourth season of socer and earned her third letter. Cavalier saw action in 17 matches, recorded five goals and two assists for 12 points.

Senior forward Kari Trivisonno (Mentor) was named as a Captains Award winner. She played her fourth season of soccer and earned her fourth letter.  Trivisonno played and started 20 matches, took 34 total shots, including 23 on-goal, scored a career-high six goals and added an assist for a career-high 13 points.

Senior defender Margo Laseak (Mentor) was named as a Captains Award recipient. She played her fourth season of soccer and earned her fourth letter. Laseak played in all 20 matches, took a career-high 31 shots, with 15 on goal and three assists for three points. She also was a key member of the defense. For her efforts, Laseak was a first-team All-Ohio, second-team All-OAC and first-team NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region selection. She also received Academic All-OAC, first-team Academic All-Ohio and second-team NSCAA Academic All-East Region honors.

Senior midfielder Kayla Losco (Hopewell Township, Pa./Hopewell) was named as a Captains Award winner. She also played her fourth season of soccer and earned a fourth letter. Losco played in 19 matches, scored three goals and had four assists for 10 points. She was a second-team All-OAC selection and also earned both Academic All-OAC and Academic All-Ohio accolades.
