BEREA, OHIO – The Baldwin Wallace University men's indoor track and field teams competed at the Mid-February Meet on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse. The meet consisted of 11 NCAA Division III schools, seven NCAA Division II schools and one NCAA Division I school.
While most of the Yellow Jackets' top runners, jumpers and throwers rested for tomorrow's (Saturday, Feb. 9) annual All-Ohio Championship Meet at Otterbein University, the BW men placed sixth of 16 teams with 45 points.
The Yellow Jacket men were led by senior All-American thrower Mitch Supan (Medina/Walsh Jesuit) who won the weight throw and took third in the shot put. Supan set the school-record in the weight throw with a toss of 63'8.75". He then threw 50'1.25" in the shot.
In addition to Supan, seniors Jake Buckey (Geneva) and Zach Marinucci (Brunswick) and freshman Tyler Burdoff (Painesville / Riverside) all had top four finishes. Marinuuci won the shot put with a throw of 52'7.5" and was third in the weight throw with a mark of 52'1.75" Buckey was second in the weight with a toss of 52'10" and Burdoff was fourth in the shot with a mark of 47'10".
In the running events, senior David Gerding (Strongsville) took fifth in the 3000-meter run as he crossed the finish line in a time of 9:32.30. Freshman Gabe Buehner (Parma) finished eighth in the 1000-meter run in a time of 2:51.13.
The Yellow Jacket track and field teams are back in action on Friday, February 15 when it hosts the annual Greater Cleveland College Championship Meet on the Harrison Dillard Track at 5:00 p.m.
