BW Men Tracksters Have Two Winners on Day One

CONWAY, SOUTH CAROLINA – One Yellow Jacket individual and the men's 4 x 200-meter relay team each finished first as the Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field teams opened the 2013 season by competing in the first day at the unscored Coastal Carolina University Snowbird Invitational Meet.

The second day of the meet is on Saturday.  This meet is utilized as a training meet while the team is en route to Jacksonville, Florida on its annual Spring Break Trip.  In addition to competing at Coastal Carolina, BW will train all next week in Jacksonville and then travel to Charlotte, North Carolina to compete at the annual University of North Carolina Charlotte Invitational on March 15-16.

The BW men were led by senior CAPITAL ONE Academic All-American distance ace in senior Ken Janosko (Mentor) who won the 10,000-meter run in a career-best 31:02.15. In addition, the relay team of freshman Jarod Conrad (West Lafayette/Ridgewood), sophomores Ryan Weir (Lodi/ Cloverleaf) and Alex Evers (Middlefield/Berkshire) and freshman Ben Biedelman (Washington D.C.) placed first in 1:32.87.

Other Yellow Jackets who placed in the Top-10 of their respective events included senior throwers Mitch Supan (Medina/ Walsh Jesuit), Zach Marinucci (Brunswick) and Jake Buckey (Geneva).

Supan, a three-time NCAA Division III All-American, placed fourth in the hammer throw with a throw of 187-feet and one-inch. Marinucci placed eighth with a toss of 162'9" and Buckey was 10th in the hammer throw at 157'8" and sixth in the javelin with a throw of 178'8".

Following its southern, spring break trip, the Yellow Jackets compete in their first northern meet on Saturday, March 30 at the Ohio Athletic Conference East Split Squad Meet at Marietta College.
